Inter-School cricket has been a major part of the Youth Development Programme of Maldives Cricket over the past 40 years and has been the starting point of tournament cricket for hundreds of players.
The Cricket Board of Maldives wishes to thank the excellent relationship with participating schools and the dedication of their staff to support the Youth Development Programmes.
After a hiatus of 3 years, due to Covid restrictions, the team of coaches, assistant coaches and officials at CBM are pleased to be able to offer these tournaments to the students.
The 8 scheduled tournaments are part of a long-term development plan that creates ‘full-time’ cricket teams in each school specific to age-groups – with the goal of progressing a players development from ‘entry-level’ at around Grade 1 age through to Grade 10 and then onto Senior Under 19 age-group cricket.
The CBM realises in these changing times, that there is an increase in classroom time and extra-curricular activities encouraged on all the students so we respect that a students’ time is precious.
With this in mind, it is of much importance to communicate the values, discipline and support that cricket can bring to a students education.
Interested schools outside of Greater Malé and Fuvahmulah City are asked to contact the Cricket Board of Maldives to learn how cricket can become a part of their sports calendar for 2023 and beyond.
