Milan Cricket Academy win the 2022 Maldives T10 Blast with a comfortable 51 run victory over CBL Sports.
MCA captain and opening batsman Yoosuf Azyan Farhath scored an unbeaten 54 to steer his team to victory in the showpiece final match at Ekuveni Cricket Ground.
February and March 2022 has seen Ekuveni Cricket Ground in Malé host the first national T10 cricket tournament after successful regional T10 cricket in 2020 and 2018.
10 teams participated in two groups with each team playing the other teams in their respective group.
At the end of the Group Stage, 8 teams battled it out in the Quarter-finals, with Milan Cricket Academy, CBL Sports, Malé Sports Club and Comets Cricket Club progressing to this weekends Semi-Finals.
Both Semi-Finals took place on Friday 25th March. The early start at 8:30am was a comfortable win for CBL Sports against Comets Cricket Club winning by 9 wickets.
Comets batted first and lost early wickets and scored at just 15 runs from 21 balls. Shauf (37 from 24 balls) came in and gave some fight alongside Rafil (13 from 10) as they finished on 73/5 from their 10 overs.
In reply, CBL Sports brought up the 74 target in the 7th over. Dinayadura Manoj pinged a not out 41 from 21 balls alongside Ravindrakumar 27 from 14 balls.
In the afternoon at 2pm Milan Cricket Academy booked their place in the Grand Final with a comprehensive win over Malé Sports Club.
Tight bowling from Hassan, Nashath and Yaaseen helped restrict MSC to 112/5 from 10 overs even with an agricultural 47 runs from Tharindu. 2 wickets fell each for the attack bowling of Adam and Leem.
Adam again, fresh after picking up his National Cricketer of the Year award last week, opened the batting for Milan and tortured the MSC bowlers with 58 from just 22 balls before being caught.
That left Azyan to see the target home with an enjoyable knock of 48 from 23.
The winning Semi-Finalists will play against each other to be crowned the 2022 T10 Blast Champions on Saturday 26th from 2:25pm at Ekuveni Cricket Cricket Ground, Malé.
