The match, held at Ekuveni Cricket Ground on Friday, 11 August 2023, witnessed a clash between Milan Cricket Academy and Malé Veterans, with Milan Cricket Academy ultimately prevailing in a well thought-out battle.
Malé Veterans’ showed resilience batting first, Malé Veterans set a target of 123 runs for victory. Despite early setbacks in the form of lost wickets, Chandana Amarawickrama exhibited composure and resilience, anchoring the innings with a commendable knock of 43 runs from 40 deliveries. His innings provided stability to the batting lineup and allowed Malé Veterans to post a total of 122 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted overs.
Milan Cricket Academy’s bowlers displayed a disciplined and impactful performance. Both Ibrahim Rizan and Ameel Ahmed Mauroof proved to be key contributors, each securing a wicket while maintaining impressive economy rates of 4.25 runs per over. The highlight of Malé Veterans’ innings was the exceptional performance by Kaushal Rodrigo, who played an instrumental role in shaping the team’s total. Rodrigo’s unbeaten knock of 80 runs from 51 balls showcased his batting prowess and ability to anchor the innings effectively. His calculated shots and well-timed strokes left a mark on the match.

The President’s T20 Cup 2023 heated up with a thrilling Semi-Final 1 clash between Malé Veterans and Milan Cricket Academy. The match, held on a sunny Friday afternoon, delivered exciting moments and key performances.
Malé Veterans won the toss and chose to bat first. Their determined effort resulted in a total of 131 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Tharaka Ruwan was the standout player, crafting a brilliant 63 runs before being run out by Milan Cricket Academy’s Yoosuf Azyan. Leem Shafeeq and Ameel Ahmed showcased their bowling for Milan Cricket Academy, each securing 2 wickets.

Vyansa won the toss and elected to bowl first. Malé Sports Club posted a competitive total of 156 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Kamrul Islam played a pivotal role, contributing 33 runs, while Mohamed Mahfooz and Mehedi Hassan added 28 runs each. Sayfur Rahman Jewel proved to be Vyansa’s standout bowler, claiming 3 important wickets.
In pursuit of victory, Vyansa showcased resilience and determination. They reached the target by scoring 160 runs in the 18th over, with Tharindu Nilanka leading the charge with an unbeaten 60 runs. Malé Sports won by 118 runs by Duckworth-Lewis method.
The thrilling President’s T20 Cup 2023 witnessed an intense Knockout Match 1 between Malé Sports and OFFU FC. The match was filled with outstanding performances and exciting moments that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats.
Winning the toss, Malé Sports chose to bat first and displayed remarkable batting prowess. They scored an impressive 200 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Kamrul Islam set the stage with a splendid knock of 54 runs, followed by notable contributions from Mohamed Rishwan (40) and Abdul Khaleque, who remained unbeaten on 40 runs.
Mohamed Ullewallah was the standout bowler for OFFU FC, managing to pick up 3 crucial wickets, putting some pressure on the opposition.
Chasing a challenging target, OFFU FC struggled to find their footing. The team scored 82 runs for the loss of 7 wickets before heavy rain interrupted the match.
Naail Ismail Naseer displayed a remarkable performance, taking 4 wickets for just 16 runs, leaving a lasting impact on the match.
Due to the rain interruption, the Duckworth-Lewis method was applied to calculate the revised target for OFFU FC. Unfortunately, they fell short, and the victory was awarded to Malé Sports.
