The talented All-Rounder Yoosuf Azyan Farhath scored an amazing unbeaten 173 during yesterdays U16 MILO Inter School Cricket Tournament match between Iskandhar School and Jamaluddin School.
Azyan, who is still only 15 years old, begins this season improving from his successful 2015 season where he became one of the first names on team sheets and broke into the Cricket Board of Maldives XI that toured Kerala, India in December – subsequently he was awarded a National Team contract in January.
This blistering knock came off 94 balls and hit 9 Sixes and 26 boundaries. No matter what the Jamaluddin School players bowled, Azyan handled each ball on it’s own merits and built his innings to secure a platform for the team to win the match.
This high score breaks the record for the most runs scored by a batsman in T20 history in Maldives. He now also holds the record for the highest score in a school match.
Congratulations Iskandhar for the win and congratulations to Azyan. A fine knock that displayed maturity and discipline to follow team instructions.
