Al’hamdhulillah cricket resumes across the country!
As the nation gradually progresses out from lockdown and other precautions cricket practices have resumed by the Cricket Board of Maldives.
In Malè, where the restrictions of movement were the tightest, the Men’s National Squad and Malé Girls players have started a series of organised fitness sessions.
A procedure of ‘back to cricket’ was created by CBM staff in line with HPA and International Cricket Council guidelines.
CBM President Mohamed Aflah was interviewed by various media outlets at the resumption of cricket in Malé described the fitness sessions are being undertaken with the squad split into groups of 5 players with 1 ‘coach’.
Sessions are designed to tune the core strength and increase the stamina of the squad and all being held at the Outdoor Cricket Practice Facility at Ekuveni Cricket Ground, Malè.
Across the country, where restrictions are less strict and the CV19 has had no positive cases, cricket practices have resumed in smaller groups. Development coaches have been educated and are prepared for all scenarios regarding the prevention and coping with any future outbreaks.l should they occur.
The Cricket Board of Maldives puts the safety of players and staff as a priority and keenly understands that we are all learning how to cope and develop the ‘new normal’ in these most unique of times.
