A special ceremony and friendly cricket match took place today at Ekuveni Cricket Ground, Malé to celebrate the donation of cricket equipment from the Government of India to the Cricket Board of Maldives.
Special Guests His Excellency Faisal Naseem Vice-President of The Republic of Maldives, Minister of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment His Excellency Ahmed Mahloof, His Excellency High Commissioner to Maldives Munu Mahawar, CBM President Mohamed Faisal, Senior National Team Players Azyan Farhath & Shammaa Ali attended the event and spoke about the crucial assistance that the relationship between India and Maldives within cricket has for the development of the game around the country.
A very special speech was made by the Minster of Sports for India, His Excellency Anurag Thakur via vide-link to the assembled guests and audience.
The Cricket Board of Maldives would like express its gratitude to the people of India for their donation. The equipment will be distributed around the Maldives to aid the ongoing development programmes.
The CBM looks forward to continuing the relationship in the years ahead. Having such a world leader in Cricket on our doorstep, it is a vital partnership to nurture for sharing expertise, facilities and equipment.
