Two groups were drawn from the 11 Teams. With 6 Teams that have previously played T20 cricket and 5 new Teams.

Each team in a group played the other teams in the same group once. After all the matches were played the top placed 3 teams form each group went through to play in the Maldives Premier Cricket League. The 4th, 5th and 6th placed teams from each group became founder members of the Maldives T20 Championship.

Each team will play the other teams once. Team in 1st Place after all games played are the Winners and are promoted to Premier League for the next tournament.
Maldives Premier Cricket League
May 13th to June 4th 2016
Top 3 Teams From Group A & Top 2 Teams From Group B
Each team will play the other teams once. Team in 1st Place after all games played are the Overall Winners. The bottom placed team is relegated to the Championship for the next tournament.
