Male’ Sports Club secured the 49 National Cricket Tournament championship beating MS Academy by 164 runs.
MSC batted first in the 3 day final after having won the toss. They were bowled out in 74 overs for 231 runs, with57 runs from captain Neesham, 45 runs from Mihusan Hamid, 35 runs from Ahmed Hassan and 32 runs from Hassan Haziq. Mohamed Shafee and Rahal too 3 wickets each for MS Academy.
In reply MS Academy were all out for 82 runs in their first innings with Ismail Ali (21 runs) and Ahmed Ameel (17 runs) registering double figures. Mohamed Mahafooz was the top wicket taker for MSC with 5 wickets in 11 overs for just 26 runs. Mohamed Shiyam took 4 for 25 runs in 12.3 overs.
MSC looked to extend their lead in the second innings declaring in 41 overs with 171 runs on the board. They lost 8 wickets. Mohamed Rishwan made 74 runs and Ahmed Hassan 35 runs. Rahal and Shafee were once again amongst the wickets for MS Academy taking 3 wickets each.
MS Academy needed 320 to win the match as they began their 2nd innings. However, there were bowled out in 54 overs for 156 runs. Abdulla Shahid made a pateint 54 runs and Ameel Mauroof made 34 runs down the order. Mohamed Mahafooz followed up his 5 wicket haul in the first innings with 6 wickets in the second innings. Mohamed Shiyam took 3 wickets. Mohamed Mahafooz was adjudged player of the match for his 11 wickets in the match.
Mohamed Rishwan was the top batsmen with 261 runs and player of the tournament. Mohamed Mahafooz was the best bowler with 15 wickets and Mohamed Azzan was the best fielder with 10 catches. Mohamed Shafee was adjudged the most promising youth player with his 56 runs and 14 wickets.
